Aston Villa v/s United: Growing back the spine.

An unknown young Italian defender defying the odds by being a contingency plan for United is now being lauded with praise. A serious quiet cold blooded midfield player with an astounding successful rate of tackles in the EPL is allowing players like Mata & Carrick to move upfront. A converted left back turned midfielder, now switched role as a center back is proving to be the root of all good passing and one of the quickest defenders in the premier league is finally showing maturity and toughness.

Will this be the future of United’s backline? 2 matches, without conceding any goals, not allowing opposition team to get clear cut chances, is this finally the backbone  united were lacking? Of course there is some work to do, and blind has yet to be tested against quicker and stronger opponents, but this is proving to be the coup of the season. It’s only 2 games, but at least, we are being spared the defensive scares of last season.

Now that united can play and most importantly defend at the back, the attacking part needs to be addressed.  A wasteful Rooney should have done better, but he brings so much composure and presence all around the pitch, and the way he annoyingly controls the game shows the psychological side of his game. Younger players look up to him because he is one of the few remaining that have undergone changes but yet have adapted to new situations because of the love of the game. Rediscovering his scoring form in time would only be good for united.
